and natural-language tools can genuinely make PCs smarter in specific areas.
The “AI shuck” continues. Or at least, the AI confusion.
Few people who understand what artificial intelligence techniques can do to speed up our work, get bettet answers. and relieve tedium doubt that AI is going to play a central role in the future of computers.
But today AI is getting mired in confusion, hype, unrealistic expectations, sloppy definitions, and holier-than-thou sniping. That’s not doing much to develop the kind Of well-informed, receptive universe of computer users we’ll need in order to tell the Al industry what we expect from it.
